Bubble Wrap

Crawling, Stomping, and Jumping on Bubble Wrap

Materials:  Bubble wrap, duct tape

Ages:  6 months (crawlers) to high school

Senses engaged:  feeling, hearing, seeing, movement

Objective:  to experience a new surface texture and to encourage practice crawling, walking and jumping in a novel environment

Tape bubble wrap to floor.  Encourage children to crawl, stomp, and jump with and without their shoes.

Talk about what they feel, what they hear and what they see.

Let those children who are sensitive watch others first.  Encourage them by doing it with them.  Then encourage them to do it on their own.

This is also a great energy burner for older students. Let them find new ways to use bubble wrap to create a sensory experience. Have them write what they learn.  Can be adapted to math, science, social studies, reading, language arts, drama ...
